This varies hugely depending on the job - there is a setup fee based on paper size and how many ink colours you’re using, then we calculate a quote for you based on how many copies you need, which paper stock you’d like, and whether you need any finishing such as trimming or folding. The most popular print option is 50 x A3 2-colour prints for £40, with a unit cost of 80p - but more copies is better value!
We can, but we recommend ordering more than one copy. Riso is designed as a duplicator so it’s much better value the more prints you get.
No, as soon as we make a new master, the riso peels off the last one and crumples it up so it can't be reused. If you know you’ll need reprints at a later date, it’s better to order them all in one go so we can print the whole batch while the master is still on the drum.
Yes - we offer 50% discounts for young people aged 25 or under. We also offer discounts for Out of the Blue tenants.
This varies hugely depending on the job - the riso process is quick, but we do need to allow time for the ink to dry between layers. As a rough guide, we normally suggest allowing 7 days, but it can be much quicker for one-colour projects, and takes longer for booklets. Please note there can occasionally be unexpected issues like technical failures or paper jams, which can add extra time. All timelines and due dates are estimated and based on our current production schedule.
We do offer a Priority Printing service - if you need your prints asap, you can pay extra to jump to the front of the queue and speed up the turnaround time. There are limitations though, as the inks need to dry before applying another layer.
We use a variety of recycled and FSC approved paper. Our house stock is 120gsm Corona, which we also stock in 80gsm and 190gsm. We also use 100gsm Context Ivory, and have a selection of Sugarpapers in 100gsm and 140gsm.
If you have a particular colour stock you want to use, you’re welcome to bring your own paper for us to print on. Riso can be quite picky with paper so it’s worth bringing a few sheets for us to test beforehand. Please bear in mind we need approximately 10% extra in case of paper jams or misprints.
We don’t normally offer test prints as most of the cost is in the ‘master’ stencil setup. If you do need to see a proof before printing, there will be an additional charge of £5 per master.
As long as the photo works well in greyscale, it’ll look good in riso. It’s generally best with high-contrast images, and we wouldn’t normally recommend using fluo orange or yellow ink for photos - but it’s possible! If you’re unsure, send us the image you’d like to print and we can give you some tips.
We don’t - riso is not a full-colour printer, it’s more like screen printing, with a limited selection of colours that are printed one layer at a time.
Red, green, blue, yellow, black and fluorescent orange.
